The much-anticipated Mercedes-Benz EQS now has an arrival date

Mercedes-Benz has finally put an end to the tedious wait for the Mercedes-Benz EQS, a model that will reach the market on April 15.

Mercedes-Benz has been working on the Mercedes-Benz EQS for far too long. It is the fourth member of the EQ family and its first 100% electric saloon. Given this starting point, the Stuttgart brand has managed to generate considerable anticipation. However, development of the EQS has taken longer and been more tedious than expected, but Mercedes-Benz has now remedied that. At long last we know the exact day on which its next electric luxury saloon will be unveiled.

Of course, knowing the date of its debut does not mean we know any new details about it. Mercedes-Benz has made sure to keep the mystery alive at all times, which keeps the intrigue and, above all, the desire to learn more about what will become a direct rival to the Porsche Taycan, the Audi e-tron GT and the Tesla Model S.

As far as design is concerned, the brand has placed special emphasis on keeping up with the latest trends in the market. With this premise, Mercedes-Benz has conceived a saloon with a coupé-like silhouette, set to highlight elegance and subtlety, features combined with the sporty behaviour we expect, backed by performance that matches its styling.

It is already known that the cabin will be dominated by the hyperscreen, a display that promises to revolutionise car technology. Many of the features already seen on the S-Class and the C-Class, the current pioneers of Mercedes-Benz’s latest technological wave, are also expected to appear, and the EQS will inherit both the control layout and the systems.

The mechanical side remains a mystery to us, although several versions are expected. With this premise, we can guess that the new Mercedes-Benz EQS will use several powertrains with outputs ranging from roughly 400 to 600 CV, and in each of them the battery capacity, and therefore the range, will vary.

On April 15 we will learn all the details of the new EQS and finally put an end to this wait. In this way, Mercedes-Benz is preparing to revolutionise not only the electric car sector but also the saloon segment, with a move that is sure to generate plenty of discussion as it becomes a direct rival to the three brands that most champion this concept.
