The new Chevrolet Corvette arrives brimming with sportiness and technology, as it demonstrates with an innovative system for detecting speed bumps.

The supercar segment boasts performance capable of taking your breath away, but always backed by a generous arsenal of technology. The new Chevrolet Corvette presents itself not only as a revolution thanks to the position of its engine, but also for its design and for a series of features that will be able to elevate the segment it belongs to. As many of you will know, one of the worst enemies of supercars are speed bumps or sleeping policemen, which are notorious for scraping the underbodies of these select vehicles or even preventing their progress; however, the Chevy Corvette arrives with a new trick to put an end to the tyranny of this safety element.

It is true that the latest supercars incorporate a system that, at the touch of a button, raises the front end a few centimetres to clear speed bumps, driveway entrances or exits, and so on. But the American supercar has wanted to take this feature further, which can still be activated via a switch on the centre console but has been enhanced thanks to Chevrolet’s technology.

Imagine for a moment that a Chevrolet Corvette C8 painted in cherry red is sleeping in your garage space and has the mission of taking you from “A” to “B” every day. It doesn’t matter what kind of journey it is or its purpose, as the Corvette will make it sweeter. However, our dream route is interrupted by a series of speed bumps that we must constantly overcome and that will force us to press the button repeatedly.

Thanks to the advanced GPS fitted to the king of muscle cars, it will be possible to pinpoint the location of up to 1,000 speed bumps. Thanks to the hydraulic system fitted to the Corvette, its aggressive nose will be able to rise 41 millimetres in just 2.8 seconds, enough height and time to prevent those “obstacles” from detrimentally intercepting our progress.

However, this innovative system will only work at a maximum speed of 40 km/h, to ensure that the manoeuvre can be carried out correctly. On this premise, the supercar will be able to “lift its paw” automatically, provided those speed bumps have been registered in its GPS and that we do not exceed the maximum speed set by the system itself.

Without a doubt, Chevrolet has not only shown the technological level its offspring will be capable of delivering, but also the potential of the automotive sector. The new Corvette is here to stay and to put its rivals from the Old Continent between a rock and a hard place, as they prepare for a tough and arduous battle with the American.
