The new Dodge Viper with an 8.7-litre V10?
The latest rumour tells us that the Dodge Viper is set to hit the market with another V10, this time of 8.7 litres.

While most manufacturers are going in the opposite direction, Chrysler’s engineers seem to have concluded that the best medicine is not to remove cylinders, but to keep them and, if possible, increase displacement. In fact, some comments have started circulating that the next Viper will raise the stakes to 8.7 litres.
And where did such news come from? It was just published by Allpar. And if there is an authority on everything related to Dodge and Chrysler, I think there is no better source. Even so, all of this should in principle be taken with some reservations, since it is clear that Chrysler has not yet said a word on the matter. But one can speculate that an engine like this will be around 700 horsepower or more.
Within the speculation, there would also be the technical involvement of Fiat with its own technology to help make the new Viper, with over 8 litres, the crown jewel of Marchionne’s lineup.
For now, all we can do is wait for some comment on the matter from Chrysler’s outspoken CEO, Ralph Gilles, so that this is not just the dream of some Viper fanatic.
