The new features of the Opel Meriva

The new Opel Meriva was unveiled worldwide at the Brussels Motor Show last month. The Meriva now stands out with a refreshed, fresher design and more cutting-edge technologies. It will also feature a range of engines that meet Euro 6 standards, including the all-new 1.6 CDTI, new gearboxes and a new generation of the IntelliLink infotainment system.
The front end now features a new front grille with more chrome, as well as chrome details around the fog lights and redesigned headlights, with daytime running lights that now use LED technology. The new Meriva also gets newly designed 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, making it the only small MPV offering wheels of this size. Twelve body colours will also be available, and buyers can choose from four new interior ambiences.

The new Meriva is offered with a new range of petrol, diesel and LPG engines that comply with the Euro 6 emissions standard, which takes effect in September 2015. The most notable is the all-new 1.6 CDTI, which made its debut in the Zafira Tourer, featuring direct common-rail injection, that will replace both the 1.3 CDTI and the 1.7 CDTI engines used until now. The first version of the 1.6 CDTI will be available in two power outputs, 110 CV and 136 CV. Consumption will be 3.8 l/100 km for the 110 CV version.
The five- and six-speed gearboxes have been optimised through changes to the components and low-friction shift mechanisms. A six-speed automatic gearbox with low friction is also available for the 120 CV and 140 CV versions of the 1.4 turbo petrol engine.
Among other changes, the new Meriva also receives a new generation of the IntelliLink infotainment system, with a new interface featuring IntelliLink graphics, a standard CD player and an optional digital radio receiver. All receivers and the navigation system will feature improved sound quality.
