The new Ford Mondeo leaks on an iPad

The Ford Mondeo has leaked, days before its arrival at the NAIAS, through the official Ford app for the iPad.

We have to resort to all sorts of things to get early images of a new vehicle before a motor show, and there’s no name for it. In this case, the Detroit show has delivered much more than online previews or graphic media, since the new-generation Ford Mondeo has leaked in an unconventional way through the countdown app for the show, for the iPad.

As we can see, the new Mondeo, which will replace the Ford Fusion first in the US, has an undeniable resemblance to the Ford Evos Concept, last shown in Frankfurt, while at the same time it looks like a Aston Martin. The photo doesn’t reveal much more, but it does give a somewhat approximate idea of what the new Focus will be like.

For this Mondeo to reach Europe, we’ll have to wait a little longer, since its launch isn’t planned until well into the year, specifically at the end of 2012, keeping its saloon, sedan and estate versions.

It’s worth remembering that the platform used will be one of the new global platforms from Ford, a chassis that will also be used on the Mondeo itself and the Lincoln MKZ. They will be followed by the Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX, with the usual engine variants for every taste, including a hybrid variant that has been talked about in recent months.
