The new fully electric supercar is the NIO EP9... And it is the fastest!
NEXTEV’s new electric supercar will be sold under the NIO brand, and we have had the chance to see it on several tracks across Europe, breaking the records set on them, with features that make it the fastest vehicle in its class in the world.

Electric cars are now far removed from what we had in mind a few years ago. They are no longer small support vehicles travelling at very low speeds with very limited range. Little by little we have seen them in cities, taking up their place on our streets, and every day we hear new reports of their use in other fields, always with batteries that are more and more impressive and sufficient to be enjoyed to the full.
The design of the car is conceived to create an imposing driving force that will allow the driver to enjoy spectacularly the power hidden beneath the seat. The structural solidity has been reinforced to provide the right dynamism, and the aerodynamic capabilities have been optimised. It should be noted that this model has a cornering capacity of 3G, which requires that its composition and design be suitable to withstand those forces.

Speaking of power, this model has four independent motors, one at each wheel. It also has four gearboxes, likewise independent, which allow the total power of this car to reach 1 megawatt, equivalent to 1,360 CV. With these figures, the NIO EP9 manages to accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Note: at 200 km/h, not 100 km/h.
The model’s top speed is 313 km/h, and its interchangeable batteries can be recharged in just 45 minutes, and at full charge it has a range of 427 kilometres. And we have said it is the fastest electric car in the world, and it has proven this on the most demanding test track, where all cars end up passing sooner or later: the Nürburgring circuit.

On the “Green Hell“, as this track is known, the NIO EP9 covered the 20.8 kilometres in 7 minutes and 5.12 seconds, setting the speed record for this type of vehicle. In addition, it also broke the record at the Paul Ricard Circuit, with a time of 1 minute and 52.78 seconds, beating the previous one set at 2 minutes and 40 seconds.
This model is the first to come out of NEXTEV, the company that has launched the NIO brand, so they have gone to great lengths to present in it all the most suitable technology to create a series of vehicles that will follow it. The company believes electric cars will become the norm in the coming years and will help us create a cleaner, more breathable atmosphere.
