The new Jaguar F-Pace SVR is already a reality, but which rivals does it face?

The freshly updated Jaguar F-Pace SVR is already here, ready to put up a real fight, but there are a number of competitors willing to make things difficult for it.

Jaguar has just announced the update of the Jaguar F-Pace SVR, a high-flying SUV that arrives ready to try to dominate the segment. However, just as with conventional SUVs, the segment in which the English model sits is extremely crowded, which gives rise to significant rivals willing to complicate matters. With this in mind, we find a range of options that can be genuinely interesting compared with the updated Jaguar F-Pace SVR 2021.

The truth is that performance SUVs are a very tangible reality, whether we like it or not, and it is easy to face a real headache when choosing one. We must not forget that many brands are now fiercely committed to this type of car which, without much ado, are capable of showing up pure sports cars.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 63s 4Matic

Mercedes-AMG has been playing in the performance SUV field for some time, and the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63s 4Matic is a clear example of this. The mid-size SUV from the three-pointed star has been dominating the segment for a while, even holding a record at the Nürburgring itself.

To achieve this, the engineers at the German brand equipped the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63s 4Matic with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing 510 CV and 700 Nm of torque. With these figures, the star’s SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 280 km/h.

BMW X3M Competition

BMW did not want to miss the performance SUV party either, and the BMW X3M Competition is irrefutable proof of this. The Bavarian firm was one of the pioneers of this segment and, to this day, it continues trying to dominate it with vehicles as spectacular as this X3.

This goal is served by an inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine which, in the Competition version, delivers 510 CV and 660 Nm of torque. These figures reach the road with a 0 to 100 time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed limited to 250 km/h.

Porsche Macan Turbo

Porsche is another benchmark brand when it comes to performance SUVs, with the Porsche Macan as a clear rival to the Jaguar F-Pace in all versions. With the Turbo badge, the Macan takes its best features to try to put the English SUV in its place, but will it succeed?

Under its skin lies a 2.9-litre V6 capable of producing 440 CV and 550 Nm of torque, figures that allow the Porsche Macan Turbo to record a 0 to 100 time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h, not bad at all, right?
