The new Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid opens its order book for Spain

Even Jeep has had to give in to the electrification of its models, including its purest ones such as the Wrangler, an off-roader of which there are few left, capable of tackling the most demanding terrain. The Wrangler will reach Spanish dealerships as a plug-in hybrid under the name Wrangler 4xe, a model whose order book has already opened in our country.

Ahead of its commercial launch, Jeep released the Wrangler 4xe First Edition exclusively for Europe, a version with an expanded standard equipment list to celebrate the start of sales. Now comes the definitive version, the Wrangler 4xe, which will soon arrive at dealerships, although anyone interested can already place their reservation to receive it as soon as possible.

As we have already mentioned, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 280 CV and 400 Nm of torque, which works together with a 44 CV electric motor acting as alternator/generator mounted on the crankshaft, and another 134 CV electric motor located between the engine and the 8-speed TorqueFlite gearbox. The result is a combined system output of 380 CV and 637 Nm of torque sent to all four wheels.

Also part of the system is a 17 kWh lithium-ion battery, which offers Hybrid, Electric and eSave modes to use the stored energy according to our driving needs. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe has a combined consumption of 4.8 l/100 km and, with this battery, can run in fully electric mode for 50 km. Once the battery is depleted, it can be recharged using the mode 3 cable supplied as standard for public charging points, or through the optional easyWallbox.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be offered in Spain in the Sahara 4xe, Rubicon 4xe trims and an exclusive 80th Anniversary version. Even from the entry-level trim, there is an interesting standard technology equipment list that includes items such as:

• 7-inch TFT display for hybrid system information
• Blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert
• Rear-view camera

• Jeep Wave loyalty programme

Prices for the Jeep Wrangler 4xe in Spain start at 68,900 euros for the Sahara 4xe trim.
