The new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is put to the test on the Rubicon Trail
The legendary Rubicon Trail has become the chosen stage for the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to be put to the test under all kinds of conditions and prove its toughness.
The Jeep Wrangler is historically one of the most capable vehicles ever built, and to test it, no more fitting stage could have been chosen than the legendary Rubicon Trail.
Across the demanding conditions that the Rubicon Trail offers through the mountains between California and Nevada last August, Wrangler vehicles equipped to face the extreme test proved they were up to the task in spectacular fashion.

The Jeep handled the extreme conditions the Rubicon presents with remarkable ease. Each model was equipped with a Rock-Trac 4×4 system, a two-speed transfer case with low range and a 4.0:1 gear ratio, robust Dana 44 front and rear axles of the latest generation, as well as Tru-Lok electric front and rear locking differentials, which helped them overcome the most extreme and demanding sections of the route.
The test involved the turbo petrol version of 2.0-litre and the powerful 3.6-litre petrol engine. Their ground clearance of more than 25 centimetres and their impressive angles gave them enviable composure through the most dangerous sections.

The Rubicon Trail is one of the most demanding routes for vehicles anywhere in the world. It is commonly known as “the mother of all off-road trails”. In fact, in honour of this, in 2003 the new Jeep added the Rubicon equipment.
The Jeep brand is closely linked to this route. In 1953, a group of approximately 150 friends drove their Jeep vehicles along the granite trail through the Sierra Nevada mountains on the way to Lake Tahoe.
The journey, originally conceived as a way to support the local community’s economy, would become the first official Jeep route on the Rubicon Trail, precisely at the moment when Jeep vehicles were changing from working vehicles into companions for new personal adventures.

Since 1950, the Rubicon Trail has become a cult destination for off-road enthusiasts. An ideal place for an adventure in the purest off-road style.
The new Jeep Wrangler was introduced in September in the main European markets, marking the fourth generation of this commercialised vehicle.
This vehicle lives up perfectly to the brand’s slogan: “Go anywhere, Do anything”.
