The new Kia Sorento makes its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show

The new products arriving at this edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show are staggering. At this event, manufacturers take the opportunity to showcase everything new for the coming year and this time was no exception. Among these brands, we must mention Kia, which has just announced that the Sorento is receiving a series of updates to keep it current for the years ahead.

The Kia Sorento not only has an extraordinary number of sales in the American market, but also in Europe. Without a doubt, the SUV from the Korean firm is a best seller, and to keep up its success they have decided to give it a series of improvements. These changes can be seen both in terms of styling and mechanics.

Five trim levels remain on offer for the Sorento in the United States, but all of them have received certain changes. As far as styling goes, there is a more refined and elegant front grille, which softens the lines of the Korean SUV and makes it appear less bulky. To complement this change, the LED light units have been updated, which helps ensure the passing years don’t affect the new Sorento in any way.

The interior of the new Sorento also has several new features. There is a redesigned steering wheel, gear knob and dashboard. The Korean firm has made sure to improve the graphics of the infotainment system and offers a higher level of finish. A third row of seats is also offered in every version of the new SUV, considerably boosting the model’s versatility.

But this is not the only new thing we see in the Kia Sorento. The SUV is also updated when it comes to engines, and now offers two powertrains. The first novelty is that the Sorento no longer offers the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, which has been replaced by a 2.4-litre GDI rated at 185 CV and a powerful 3.3-litre V6 rated at 290 CV. Without a doubt, the ease with which these engines will move the Kia Sorento will be impressive.

The mechanics of the new Sorento feature an updated eight-speed automatic gearbox, which provides smooth and relaxed driving. Without a doubt, the SUV from Kia has been built for comfortable travel, and it achieves this thanks to the excellent work done by the engine and transmission. For now we don’t know the price, but it will surely continue to sell in good numbers.
