Golf Sportsvan Volkswagen Compact
The Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan is being renewed, and these are its main changes
Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan receives a series of changes ahead of 2018. It gets a cosmetic update and features an improved range of engines from 17,900 euros

Minivans are a type of vehicle that has been very successful in the Spanish market. They offer great versatility and, at the same time, outstanding travel capabilities. Volkswagen was one of the pioneering brands with this type of vehicle and, after the Golf’s renewal, the Sportsvan was not going to be left behind. The most versatile version of the Golf has been updated, and today we bring you all the details.
The Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan was presented as the successor to the Golf Plus, and both derive from the compact version. Compared with a standard Golf, the Sportsvan changes in many ways, starting with its styling. It has the look of a small MPV but with a very attractive result. But this is not the only thing that changes after the restyling.
To begin with, we find a new front bumper on the Golf Sportsvan. We should also mention the redesigned LED headlights, which give the Volkswagen compact a more modern and up-to-date look. The rear light clusters have also been part of these changes and help maintain that more current styling.

The cabin also shows several new features. The Golf Sportsvan’s screen has been updated and now offers the option of fitting the Discover Media or Discover Pro navigation systems, complete with a 9.2-inch glass screen and gesture control. You can also add Adaptive Cruise Control, which makes the on-board experience of the Golf Sportsvan much more comfortable.
But the company has not only made sure its new Sportsvan has the latest technology, it has also equipped it with a wide range of safety features. The new German compact offers the option of automatic emergency braking, fatigue control or pedestrian detection. This, together with the large number of airbags the new Golf comes with, makes it one of the safest vehicles in its segment.

Even so, one more element is needed to complete the well-balanced package offered by the new Golf Sportsvan. We are referring to its engines, which have been considerably updated. The Sportsvan offers five engines in its range. The three petrol units consist of a 130 hp 1.5 TSI EVO – which can be paired with a manual or DSG automatic gearbox -, a 105 hp 1.0, which is the most basic option, and finally a 150 hp 1.5 TSI.
The diesel engines are represented by a 115 hp 1.6 TDI and a 150 hp 2.0 TDI. Without a doubt, the new Sportsvan offers a very reasonable range of engines, providing performance well suited to the type of vehicle it is. However, this is not the only good thing about the new compact, its price is also a strong point. The Golf Sportsvan is offered in its most basic version for 17,900 euros.
