The new Porsche Taycan flies at an airfield

The new Porsche Taycan was tested at an airfield, completing a total of 26 standing starts from 0 to 200 km/h in under 10 seconds.

The Porsche Taycan is entering the final validation phase, and to develop it, it has already visited roads in more than 30 countries around the world. This time, however, the conventional roads have been swapped for a racetrack.

The goal is clear: to show that this is no ordinary electric car, but one with a very sporty character that won’t shy away from a circuit. The natural habitat of any vehicle from the brand is corners and, therefore, circuits. So it’s no problem at all for the upcoming electric car from Porsche to complete a series of laps on the Zuffenhausen circuit.

The brand used a pre-series unit of the Porsche Taycan that proved capable of meeting the demands of any circuit. To do so, the Stuttgart engineers did not limit themselves to completing a few laps of the track, but instead carried out no fewer than 26 flying starts from 0 to 200 km/h.

The venue chosen was the 2.3 kilometres of the take-off runways at Lahr airfield, 160 kilometres from the brand’s headquarters. The times recorded in every standing start were under 10 seconds, brutal figures that the Porsche Taycan achieves thanks to its 600 hp and its all-wheel drive. Moreover, when the runs were repeated several times, the car showed no fatigue, and the timing varied by only 0.8 seconds between the fastest and the slowest acceleration.

The Porsche Taycan has therefore once again demonstrated that it is a true thoroughbred sports car and, in addition, that it is completely respectful of the environment. The future Porsche model features two electric motors, one on each axle. Furthermore, one area in which the Porsche Taycan is a pioneer is that its voltage system is 800 volts, instead of the 400 used by the electric cars currently on the market.

Supercar performance and a range of 400 km

The Porsche Taycan has a top speed of 250 km/h, and is capable of reaching 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. In addition, its battery capacity is 90 kWh, so its range will be slightly over 400 kilometres.

Few models from the brand have generated as much anticipation as the new electric car from the brand. There is not long to wait before you can see it in person, as the Porsche Taycan already has a presentation date and will be launched on the market at the end of the year.

In March, the manufacturer announced that more than 20,000 interested buyers had already put down 2,500 euros as a reservation deposit to secure the new Porsche Taycan. Everything therefore suggests that the new model will be a success for the brand and a benchmark in the electric sports car segment.
