The new Skoda Fabia 2022 shows us its interior ahead of schedule
Skoda is moving forward with the development of the new Skoda Fabia 2022, a model that openly shows us its updated cabin.
Just when it seemed they had relatively forgotten about it, Skoda appears with the surprise that the Skoda Fabia will receive a major generational change. In this way, the Czech city car is getting ready to receive the brand’s latest updates in every aspect, promising a fresher, more modern design, mechanical improvements and, of course, a new interior. And while Skoda has not yet revealed much about the exterior, it has allowed us to see all the details of its cabin, an area that adds to the latest technology.
The truth is that both the Ibiza as well as the Polo and the Fabia were slightly lagging behind their other siblings in the range. However, the three subsidiaries of the Volkswagen Group have already applied their respective strategies so that their city cars can handle the passage of time well, although Skoda is the only one that is subjecting its offspring to a more comprehensive change.
It is true that the test mules of the Skoda Fabia let us appreciate a sharper, cleaner and more aggressive exterior design. Even so, the cabin is the first area of the Czech city car to fully shed its camouflage, allowing us to appreciate all the innovations it brings. The technology side stands out more strongly in every segment, including the city car segment in which the Fabia still competes.
The first thing that catches our attention is a two-spoke steering wheel that it inherits directly from its bigger sibling, the Octavia. Behind it sits a fully digital instrument cluster with new graphics and configurations, as well as a new design for the air vents and the DSG gearbox selector.
But the icing on the cake is the central screen, which is considerably larger and does away with physical buttons. However, these make an appearance in the climate control, a very important point since it is not integrated into the infotainment system itself.
Either way, it will be in early May when Skoda holds the official unveiling of the Skoda Fabia, a model that promises a major revolution in the segment. In this way, the Czech city car finally joins the brand’s new design language, promising a much more modern and refined overall character to face the passage of the years with confidence and take on the competition.
