The new Volkswagen Golf announces its prices in Spain, with the "50 Aniversario" special edition as its flagship
The new Volkswagen Golf is now on sale in Spain with new trim levels and the “50 Aniversario” special edition with extended standard equipment

2024 got off to a strong start for Volkswagen with the renewal of the eighth generation of its flagship and most iconic model, the Golf, which was unveiled with a slight exterior redesign and updates focused mainly on its technology. The German brand now begins sales of this model in Spain, where we already know how the range is structured.
Let’s recall that the new Volkswagen Golf was presented with exterior changes centred mainly on the front end, with the fitting of a bumper that slightly modified its design, while the rest of the changes focus on lighting. The LED light units, front and rear, feature a new design and, depending on the trim, the front ones can be LED Plus or LED Matrix, while the rear ones can also be LED 3D. In addition, the Golf becomes the first combustion model from the brand to feature an illuminated front logo.

In terms of interior design, the new Volkswagen Golf will be more customisable thanks to new upholstery and trim inserts, but the most notable feature will be the new 12.9-inch infotainment system, which runs new software derived from the ID range of electric vehicles from Volkswagen. Depending on the trim, it can also incorporate the Discover navigation system with new natural voice control “IDA”, wireless App-Connect, a phone interface with inductive charging and, for the first time in terms of safety, a 360º peripheral vision system and Remote Park Assist.
Return of the “Golf” base trim and arrival of new ones

Volkswagen has taken advantage of this restyle applied to the Golf to restructure the range of available trims, for example by bringing back the base “Golf” trim, which receives equipment including the following:
- 16-inch alloy wheels
- LED headlights
- Ready2Discover infotainment system with 12.9-inch touchscreen
- Digital Cockpit Pro with 10-inch screen
- Wireless App-Connect
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane Assist
- Front Cross Traffic Alert
- Front Assist
- Traffic sign recognition system
- Climatronic air conditioning
- Park Pilot with front and rear parking sensors

The next trim available from launch is the “Life” trim, which adds the following elements to the previous one:
- Tinted rear windows
- Power-adjustable, heated, electrically folding exterior mirrors
- 3-zone “Air Care Climatronic” climate control
- Lumbar support on front seats
- Interior ambient lighting configurable in 10 colours

The third step in the trim range is a new addition, the “Más” trim, which adds the following elements compared with the previous one:
- Metallic exterior paint
- 17-inch wheels
- Rear view camera
- Keyless entry and start system
- Alarm
- Light Assist
- Interior ambient lighting configurable in 30 colours
- Driving profile selection

The latest trim currently available is the “50 Aniversario” special edition, celebrating the Golf’s own anniversary, which adds very interesting standard equipment for a minimal surcharge compared with what it offers and the value of each item if bought separately, including elements such as:
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- IQ. Light with LED Matrix headlights
- LED 3D rear lights
- Dynamic Light Assist
- 360º Area View with rear view camera
- Heated front seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Discover navigation system
- Brushed stainless steel pedals and footrest
- Dedicated exterior badges
The brand has further confirmed that the R-Line, GTE, GTI, GTI Clubsport and R trims will join these.
Wide mechanical range
The Volkswagen Golf will continue to offer both diesel and petrol combustion engines, although improved for greater efficiency. For example, as a novelty we have the entry-level petrol engine, now composed of a 1.5 TSI four-cylinder unit with 115 CV and a six-speed manual gearbox, also available with 150 CV and a DSG automatic gearbox.

This same unit also serves as the basis for the eTSI versions, which add 48 V mild-hybrid technology, and for both power outputs, 115 CV and 150 CV, they are paired with the DSG automatic gearbox. The plug-in hybrid versions also receive changes, as the 1.4 TSI is now a 1.5 TSI available with 204 CV or 272 CV depending on the trim, and their batteries have been improved to reach almost 100 kilometres of range, in addition to accepting DC fast charging.
The remaining engines remain unchanged, with the 115 CV and 150 CV TDI paired with a manual or DSG automatic gearbox respectively; the 265 CV petrol engine for the GTI trim, the 300 CV for the GTI Clubsport and the 333 CV for the R trim with four-wheel drive 4Motion.
The new Volkswagen Golf is now available on the Spanish market, with prices starting at 25,480 euros including campaign offers, while the “50 Aniversario” special edition starts at 33,745 euros, as it will be available with different engines.
