The Costume Museum in Madrid and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) in Barcelona have been the chosen venues for the debut of the eighth generation of one of Volkswagen’s most emblematic and best-selling models, with more than 22 million units sold over its 41 years of history.

This event brought together brand customers, executives from various companies and nearly a hundred media outlets. Following the presentation on Tuesday at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, the new model made its debut in Madrid yesterday. The event was attended by Enrique Cerezo, president of Atlético de Madrid, the club with which Volkswagen has a collaboration agreement.

The new vehicle debuts with new engines and the latest assistance, safety, infotainment and comfort systems. The Passat offers 10 newly designed engines with power outputs from 120 to 280 CV, and has reduced its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 20% compared with its predecessor.

The eighth generation of the Passat is a benchmark in innovation and represents the highest expression of technology within the Volkswagen brand, and orders are already being accepted.

It will arrive on the Spanish market in the last quarter of 2014, with prices starting at €26,510 (saloon) and €28,190 (Variant), all these prices excluding the Plan PIVE scheme or any promotion.
