The next Chevrolet Aveo would not exactly be called Aveo

It is curious how car companies come up with some very strange excuses when certain models don’t perform the way they should. The well-known Chevrolet Aveo could be renamed when its next generation launches in 2012, because its name is difficult to pronounce and confuses customers(sic).

By “difficult pronunciation” they mainly mean the North American public, since the news came from GM North America president Mark Reuss, perhaps without taking into account the other 120 countries where the Aveo is sold without any identity problem.

As GM is going to present a completely new design in 2012, following the same basic design line as the Spark, they don’t want the new car to arrive with its current name. As a suggestion, I would vote for Kalos, its previous name in Europe…

The fact is that GM should be more concerned about more important matters than renaming the Aveo. These days, the Volt is making headlines, dangerously more than it should.
