The Frankfurt Motor Show has already gained momentum, and the industry grapevine has also picked up pace, thanks to the presence of many CEOs and executives from all brands, at the highest level.

We start with the CEO of Opel, Karl-Thomas Neumann, who announced that it is a distant but at least real possibility that our familiar Opel Adam will also be sold in the land of Uncle Sam, under the Buick logo, and it would not be the first time that Opel models have been transplanted to North America.

The idea is nothing new. In fact, the Buick Encore is the American and Chinese version of the Opel Mokka that we know in Europe. In the past, the Opel Astra carved out a place in Buick’s ranks, although not with much success.

The Opel Adam will not make a quick debut on American soil, since Neumann announced that they still have a lot of work to do on the vehicle to meet American safety standards, so the Adam would still be more than two years away from arriving in the US, possibly not until the first facelift of the Adam.

On the other hand, GM will work more closely with Opel in Europe. The German brand remains an important technology and design hub for several of the models sold in the US, something the American company itself has always acknowledged.
