Opel has announced the launch of a second version of the 1.6 CDTI engine to complete the Zafira Tourer range this summer. The German MPV is available with the new 120 CV variant of this powertrain, a slightly more economical alternative to the 136 CV version presented last year.

The brand points to one of the main features of this engine as the very low noise and vibration levels it produces, which contributes to increased driving comfort. This version comes as standard with Start/Stop and energy recovery systems during braking, plus a six-speed manual gearbox with low friction.

With the 1.6 CDTI ecoFLEX and that transmission, the Opel Zafira Tourer consumes 4.5 l/100 km on the combined cycle and emits 119 grams of CO2 per kilometre. By comparison, with the 136 CV 1.6 CDTI these figures are 4.1 l/100 km and 117 g/km, respectively. Both variants comply with Euro 6 emissions regulations.

For now, Opel has only confirmed the launch price of this engine for the German market. In that country, the Zafira Tourer 1.6 CDTI with 120 CV starts from €26,850 in the most basic trim, which is 1,400 euros cheaper than the 136 CV 1.6 CDTI.
