The Paris Olympic Games require extensive planning and an infrastructure that calls for a fleet of vehicles capable of meeting the many services needed during the event. For this reason, the organisers have chosen a highly efficient and well-known brand. Toyota has been selected to provide the vehicles needed for transfers and transport services during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The total fleet of vehicles deployed amounts to 3,374 vehicles, all from the same brand. The fleet is divided into 845 hybrid cars; 176 plug-in hybrid cars; 1,003 electric vehicles and 500 hydrogen cars. With these vehicles, all transport needs of this demanding event are covered.

This allows the Paris Olympic Games to become a showcase of all the drivetrain options available from the brand. Although many vehicles are needed to carry equipment and athletes between the Olympic Village and the various stadiums and venues where the competitions take place, the environmental impact is much lower thanks to the use of sustainable vehicles.

The chosen models are the Toyota b4Zx, Proace, Proace Verso, Mirai and the Lexus RX, which also belongs to the Toyota group. But in addition to these models, Toyota has prepared several special models to support the mobility of Paralympic athletes.

These vehicles are called Toyota Accessible People Movers (APM), which can transport people with reduced mobility and their wheelchairs comfortably. 250 units of this electric vehicle will be deployed to improve the transfers of these athletes. In addition, several personal mobility vehicles have been made available to participants in the Games to get around the Olympic Village.

All these vehicles will remain in Paris once the two sporting events have ended. The 500 hydrogen cars will become part of the city’s taxi fleet, while the rest will join the municipal electrified fleet.
