The fourth edition of the PIVE Plan is already a reality. Thanks to the government aid of the PIVE and the PIMA Aire, the battered Spanish industry has been given a bit of a lift. Aware of this, the Spanish government has given the green light to some changes to the PIVE Plan and has authorized the extension of the PIMA Aire Plan, which will have a kind of second part.

The PIVE Plan, which grants 2,000 euros in aid or 3,000 for large families, will now also cover special vehicles for disabled people. In this case, the aid will be 3,000 euros, the same as that which large families buying a car with more than five seats can receive.

PIMA Aire Plan: a second wind

In the last few hours the second edition of the PIMA Aire Plan has been approved, which provides facilities for buying motorcycles, mopeds and electric bicycles. The plan also extends the incentives to buy commercial vehicles and passenger cars for private individuals.

The aid for electric motorcycles and mopeds will be 600 euros for motorcycles (400 provided by the Ministry of the Environment and 200 by dealerships) and 350 euros for mopeds (250 from the Government and 100 from the dealership). In exchange, a vehicle of the same category more than five or seven years old, depending on the type, must be scrapped.

If no vehicle is handed over in exchange for scrapping, the incentives are reduced to 500 euros for motorcycles and 300 euros for mopeds, in both cases electric. The incentive to buy electric bicycles will be 200 euros, and they must have a range of between 20 and 60 kilometres and a battery that is not lead-acid.

The PIMA Aire Plan is extended to private individuals

Whereas previously only SMEs and self-employed workers could benefit from the PIMA Aire Plan, private customers will now also be able to make use of it, with aid for light commercial vehicles and new passenger cars or cars no more than one year old. On the other hand, the PIMA Aire will run until the funds are exhausted and not until 31 December 2013, as had originally been planned.
