The popular Nissan Qashqai receives a restyle for its third generation to keep its success as a goal

After several years on the market in its third generation, Nissan introduces significant design and technological updates to the popular Qashqai

It is hard to say, especially with a brand like Nissan, but the Japanese were pioneers in the C-SUV segment back in 2007 with the arrival of the Qashqai, a model that became popular in Europe and that, across its three generations so far, has accumulated 375,000 units sold in Spain, also leading the market in 2024. The Japanese SUV does not want to lose ground to its competitors in order to stay at the top, so Nissan has given it an interesting update.

As usually happens in these cases, the biggest changes are at the front, changes that, by the way, are visibly noticeable and substantially improve the image of the Nissan Qashqai. In this way we see that its large grille is more eye-catching thanks to the dozens of three-dimensional elements that now make it up, inspired, incidentally, by the scales of Japanese armour, which are also positioned in such a way that they give the grille a “V” shape.

These elements rise to the upper part and are integrated as part of the daytime running lights through small LEDs, just below the main headlights, which now have a sharper look and will be available with adaptive matrix technology for the top trims; while immediately above are the dynamic boomerang-shaped LED indicators. At the rear, the light cluster keeps the same design but its internal composition has been redesigned: four red lighting elements that reference the grille elements and seem to float inside the lens with a distinctive red tone.

The lower part of the front bumper has also been slightly modified, as has the lower part of the sides, which can now be in gloss black or in the body colour depending on the chosen trim. Regarding colours, it is worth noting that Nissan has added for the Qashqai the new colours Kori White, Ninja Black and Deep Ocean, which, together with the rest of the palette, can be combined with a black roof except, obviously, Ninja Black. In addition, Nissan has redesigned the range of wheels, which will feature a new design in sizes of 18, 19 and 20 inches.

It should be said that Nissan has taken advantage of the Qashqai’s restyle to also restructure its trim range, with the introduction of the N-Design trim for the Spanish market. In this trim, customers will find a body that dispenses with black mouldings, adding an extra touch of sportiness, something that will be further reinforced by the new exclusive 20-inch wheels for this trim in a two-tone finish.

For the interior of the Qashqai, Nissan has focused on offering an ecosystem that conveys a greater sense of quality, all thanks to the new patterns present on the centre console, dashboard and glovebox, as well as new upholstery for the top trims, where premium leather partially quilted and vegan synthetic leather can be combined, not forgetting the Alcantara for the door panels, armrests and centre console. Another aesthetic detail is the new ambient lighting, which can be controlled via the central screen.

Precisely in terms of technology, the most important changes are found in the central screen, which will be of great help thanks to the technologies incorporated, specifically affecting its 360º camera, which increases to 8 viewpoints and adds interesting functions such as the following:

  • Intersection assist: to enter low-visibility intersections with the front wide-angle camera offering a 200º view that anticipates what you can see.
  • Off-road assist: to drive at low speed, showing you the obstacles on the terrain beneath the car.
  • Custom parking function: monitors your perfect parking to allow you to open all the doors safely.
  • Skeleton view and towing assistant: to control the position of the wheels and avoid damaging them on the outside, as well as to align the car with your trailer easily thanks to the guide lines.

That is not the only change, as the autonomous emergency braking function has been recalibrated to improve risk detection, so it can react more quickly in the event of a possible collision; the emergency lane keeping system now activates automatically, and the intelligent speed assistance system has also been updated and improved. In addition, for all these assistance technologies you can quickly and easily adjust their level of intervention through a new driver mode.

Mechanically, no changes are expected in the range of engines that Nissan offers with the Qashqai, so we will continue to find the option of choosing between the versions mild-hybrid petrol in power outputs of 140 or 158 CV, while the most powerful option is the e-Power hybrid version, which delivers 190 CV. All its engines carry the DGT ECO sticker.
