The Porsche Panamera drops its Sport Turismo version in the latest range update
The Sport Turismo version of the Porsche Panamera is set to disappear when the third generation debuts, as it does not sell enough units.

The Porsche Panamera is about to receive an update that will pave the way for the model’s third generation. Soon we will be able to enjoy the new versions across all existing variants of the car, but the brand has just delivered some bad news. Although most variants are being retained, the Sport Turismo version is going to disappear from the range.
In an interview given to outlets such as Automotive News Europe, several sources within the brand have commented that this variant will disappear from the brand’s lineup. It is quite surprising, because although we knew an update to the model was coming, there was no information regarding the discontinuation of this iteration of the Panamera.

Low sales, a possible reason
But if we look at the sales figures offered by Porsche, we can better understand this decision. Of all the available variants of the Porsche Panamera, the Sport Turismo is the one that sells the least. According to figures published by the outlet Autocar, its sales do not even reach 10% of the total units sold for the model.
So the solution from Porsche has been to focus on the versions that perform best and stop building the one that is least profitable. In the third generation of the Porsche Panamera, the model will only be available as a saloon. That said, if there is a buyer who wants a larger version, they can opt for the Executive version, which has a longer wheelbase.
It is also worth remembering that this third generation of the Porsche Panamera will be the last to feature combustion engines. From the next one onwards it will have electric motors. In the meantime, you can still enjoy the combustion engine, although it will be available with several types of plug-in hybrid engines.
Indeed, the plug-in hybrid versions are the ones performing best in sales, accounting for up to 75% of units sold. A step forward before full electrification, which will arrive within a few years.
