The price of the electric Zoe is already known: from 21,000 euros

The people from the diamond brand are getting ahead of the European market launch of the electric Renault Zoe and announce that its price will start from 21,000 euros, although it should be taken into account that there will be some minor differences depending on the country where it is sold.

Thanks to its interchangeable battery technology, within the Quick Drop rapid battery replacement programme of Better Place, the Zoe can be charged with electricity at home or at a public site, or it can simply swap its batteries for others already charged beforehand. I make this clarification for those who wonder why there is such a price difference with the Nissan Leaf, given that they are almost identical cars from the same group…

The Nissan Leaf will cost in Europe an average price of around 30,000 euros, already counting the discount from the various government aid programmes and local councils. It might seem strange, but the Leaf would be costing almost 10,000 euros more than the Zoe. But this has an explanation.

In the case of the Renault Zoe you only buy the car, but not the batteries, since you will have to pay a monthly rental for them: 70 euros. Besides benefiting from the fact that you can swap the batteries for others already charged in a matter of minutes, unlike the Nissan Leaf, for which you would have to wait several hours while charging its batteries at home. That said, let someone tell me where the nearest Better Place “electric petrol station” in Spain is, because so far I have not seen any.

Saludos
