The Renault Mégane 1.7 Blue dCi offers new and more interesting equipment
The latest diesel engine added to the Renault Mégane range, the 150 CV 1.7 Blue dCi, comes with three interesting trim levels
Positioned above the 95 and 115 CV Blue dCi engines, the new and most powerful of the diesel units that use the black nozzle-style fuel filler, the one corresponding to the Renault Mégane 1.7 Blue dCi 150 CV becomes the most powerful option among the diesel variants.
Thus, the new 1.7-litre block delivers the aforementioned 150 horsepower and offers a very noteworthy torque of 340 Nm from as low as 1,750 which ensures strong pulling power at low revs and more than sufficient power once the car is already underway. In fact, although it is not decisive, the top speed quoted is 205 km/h.
In addition, to make driving more comfortable in situations such as urban traffic and to reduce fuel consumption, it is equipped with a six-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox, of the EDC type.
Even more interesting is the homologated combined-cycle consumption: 4.7 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres driven. On the other hand, the new diesel engine of the Renault Mégane emits 124 grams of carbon dioxide per km driven, which places it among the cars that meet the Euro 6.2-Temp standard, to be applied to newly manufactured cars from 2020.
The equipment available for the Renault Mégane 1.7 Blue dCi
As we indicated at the beginning, this car now stands as the top-of-the-range version, in terms of the most powerful diesel engine in the Renault Mégane family.
Likewise, regarding the trim levels for the Renault Mégane 1.7 Blue dCi, only the Zen, Bose and GT-Line equipment versions are offered, at least for now.
As for the first two, the aesthetic appearance is similar, differing in the wheels, both 17-inch, although the Bose has black diamond-cut finish, leaving the GT-Line as the more distinguished and sporty option.
Inside, the Zen and the Bose, as the name suggests, only the second features the R-Link 2 multimedia system, with connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with a 22.1-centimetre screen, compared with 17.8 on the Zen and GT-Line, and a speaker system signed by audio specialist Bose, as well as an electrochromic interior rear-view mirror that darkens automatically.
The Zen equipment includes a leather steering wheel, while the Bose has Nappa leather and exclusive upholstery, and the GT-Line steering wheel displays the GT badge on its lower spoke and also GT Line / GT fabric upholstery. All three come with the instrument cluster with a TFT screen of 17.8 cm in 3D.
As for driver assistance systems and aids, the Renault Mégane 1.7 dCi in Bose trim is equipped with a rear-view camera that lets you view the area behind the car when you engage reverse, while the GT-Line does without the front fog lights that the other two do have.
The price of the Renault Mégane with the new diesel engine starts at 24,070 euros for the Zen equipment and rises to 25,016 for the GT-Line and the Bose. All these are prices including the discounts and promotions applied by the manufacturer, which can be checked in the car configurator.
