The most popular models from all brands usually receive an update during their lifetime. These are small changes that bring improvements over the previous version, which is why they are usually very well received by buyers. These improvements usually include a new engine and more equipment, modernising the range with the latest news in safety and connectivity.

This is the case of the new Kia Rio, which arrives at Spanish dealerships with major news that places it above the previous edition. The Rio continues to be available in 3- and 5-door versions. The front headlights have been improved and now feature LED technology, as has the rear light cluster. The front has been reworked, adding the Tiger Nose design, which gives it a more dynamic look. The rear bumper has also been modified to reinforce this more attractive and modern image.

Inside, several safety elements have been added, which also improve this aspect. In addition to a 288-litre boot, which increases considerably when the rear seats are folded down, new materials have been added to the interior trim. The infotainment system has been upgraded with a new console equipped with a seven-inch screen, which comes as standard on the EMOTION trim.

The BASIC trim, the entry point to the range, comes with six airbags, as well as several active safety systems including, among others, ABS, EBD and BAS. On top of this equipment, the CONCEPT trim adds air conditioning, a spare wheel, a central armrest and Bluetooth connectivity. The next trim is DRIVE, which adds 15-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, a rain sensor and cruise control with speed limiter.

The latest version available is the X-TECH, which includes premium equipment, with features such as ISG (Intelligent Stop & Go), a 2.0 navigation system with parking assist camera and seven years of updated mapping, automatic climate control, light sensors, rear parking sensors and 16-inch alloy wheels.

As for engines, this new Kia Rio is available with two powertrains, a petrol and a diesel option. The first is configured with a 1.2 CVVT four-cylinder engine and an output of 84 CV, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The second is a 1.1 CRDi WGT three-cylinder diesel engine producing 75 CV, which offers a consumption of 3.8 litres per 100 km and emissions of 99 g/km.
