James May is looking for a job to pay for the Ferrari 458 Speciale he bought

This is how he put it in a column he recently wrote for the former Top Gear presenter, James May, who, before the famous programme ended in the form we knew it, had ordered a Ferrari 458 Speciale as a reward for the future renewal with the BBC.

Although Top Gear ended in the format we knew, the three presenters have not become part of the routine life of an anonymous figure. Far from it: Clarkson, May and Hammond continue to publish content on social media, posting videos and actively taking part in local newspapers such as the Sunday Times, where James May recently wrote in his opinion column about his latest acquisition.

“I have ordered a Ferrari 458 Speciale, all I need now is a job so I can pay for it,” the former presenter declared in the article. Apparently, the purchase of the latest track-focused sports car from the Maranello house has cost him £208,090 (around 290,000 euros), a purchase May made in anticipation of the future renewal of his contract with the BBC for another three years.

When the scandal involving Jeremy Clarkson broke out, the co-presenter had already ordered it, and the way that scandal was resolved has not exactly helped him feel flattering about the purchase. In the same opinion column he admits that he doesn’t know what will happen with Top Gear, and the future of its three former presenters remains a mystery for the time being.

Meanwhile, in one of the posts and videos that Richard Hammond shares on Twitter, he publishes the following short clip to show how he fights boredom: driving a 1931 Lagonda to buy a coffee at the corner shop. A touch of humour characteristic of the former stars of Top Gear.
