The Seat Toledo and Seat Mii have been discontinued

The Seat Toledo and the Seat Mii are disappearing from the Seat range

After the publication of new car sales for 2018, you had to dig through the lowest-ranked positions to find certain models. Two models that are not very common on our roads, the Seat Toledo and the Seat Mii, have suffered this sad fate.

In the case of the Seat Toledo, its return to the market in 2012 was Seat’s attempt to boost sales in the segment of modestly sized saloons. At a difficult time due to the economic crisis, it sought to make room for this sedan which, a few decades earlier, had been a genuine best-seller. To do so, and through the platform that gave life to the Skoda Rapid, another vehicle that will also stop being sold and that will have its successor in the Skoda Scala, it tried to position a car that only enjoyed great popularity among taxi drivers and that, only when wearing the distinctive colours of each major city, managed to sell. Far from the taxi ranks of public transport, the Seat Toledo was losing its image.

Sales of the Seat Toledo and the Seat Mii bear this out

So much so that during 2018 only a total of 2,250 units of the Seat Toledo were sold in Spain. Bearing in mind that Seat was the sales leader in 2018, selling up to 107,328 units and, to make a quick comparison among its models, the Seat León was the best-selling car in Spain in 2018, with 34,890 cars registered, followed by the Seat Ibiza, the second best-selling car, with 31,474. Further down, in eighteenth place overall, the Seat Arona with 19,368 SUVs sold.

Figures that also support the end of production of the Seat Mii. If the saloon’s sales figures are dismal, those of the small city car are even worse, since only a total of 809 Seat Mii were registered in 2018.

Production of the Seat Toledo and the Seat Mii has already ended

With these numbers, Seat decided in November to stop selling the Seat Toledo in the United Kingdom. And now we know that, since January, the factories in Slovakia and the Czech Republic where they are assembled no longer build these two models.

This means that the only Seat Toledo and Seat Mii available are the units already manufactured that remain in stock.

The Seat Alhambra, the next victim of low sales?

Another model whose roof has the sword of Damocles hanging over it is the Seat Alhambra. With only 1,442 MPVs registered last year, its sales are even worse than those of the Seat Toledo.

What is more, as we have learned, Volkswagen will stop manufacturing its equivalent seven-seat MPV, the Volkswagen Touran, so the Seat Alhambra may also end up becoming a vehicle in extinction.

The Volkswagen Touran will end its production in favour of the German brand’s SUV range. Something that could happen to the Seat even more if we consider that the Seat Tarraco is an SUV also capable of carrying up to seven occupants.
