The Skoda Citigo arrives in Spain

The Citigo, the seventh model in the Skoda range, arrives on the Spanish market and expands the brand’s offering in the city car segment, in 3-door and 5-door versions and with the 1.0 engine producing 60 and 75 hp. The 5-door version is the same version we showed at the Geneva Motor Show, whose interior space impressed us at the time (with the largest boot in its segment, 959 litres with the rear seats folded), which shows that in addition to being urban, it offers a high degree of practicality.

The corporate badge appears for the first time on a vehicle from the brand, positioned on the front of the bonnet. Below it sits a 19-slat grille centred between the headlights; the front is completed by the air intake with vertical fins and the fog lights.

The first thing that catches the eye from the outside is the generous size of the windows, which follow the waistline, rising as they move towards the rear. According to Skoda, it offers a great range of combinations of body colours and materials, and will be available in three trim levels: Active, Ambition and Elegance. In terms of safety equipment, one of the most notable new features is the “City Safe Drive” automatic braking system, designed to minimise the many scares and accidents encountered when driving in the city.

In the engines section, two new small petrol engines are introduced: three-cylinder units with a capacity of one litre, producing 60 and 75 hp, meeting Euro 5 standards, combined with a five-speed gearbox. Fuel consumption is well below five litres per 100 km in both cases, and emissions are slightly above 100 grams of CO2. As for further engine news, the Citigo will be available with the Green tec package, which improves consumption and emission levels even further. Towards the end of the year, a new 68 hp natural gas engine will be available.
