The Skoda Fabia Rally2 by 'Cohete' Suárez becomes a special edition model for Spain

The world of rallies is one of the great testing grounds for the boldest models. In a rally, the resilience of these cars can be tested in fairly daring situations, so the cars that take part in these events offer very attractive characteristics. When these models go on sale for road use, they have an image and performance superior to more traditional models.

The Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 has been driven by José Antonio ‘Cohete’ Suárez in various events, and he has taken home the awards from the Spanish Super Speed Rally Championship (S-CER) in 2021 and 2023. And now, the Czech brand wants to pay tribute to the Asturian with a special edition of the Fabia Rally2 that will be available only for the Spanish market.

The special edition of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 by ‘Cohete’ Suárez is based on the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 driven by the Spaniard in these events. Many of the elements that equip this competition car have been included, both in terms of styling and performance.

More power for the special edition Fabia

One of the standout features of this special edition is the increase in power over the production model. Thanks to the collaboration with ABT Sportsline, the 1.5 TSI four-cylinder engine has been modified to deliver 190 CV and 290 Nm of torque.

Considering that the standard version of the Fabia offers 150 CV. In this special edition, power is sent to the front axle through a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox, for a sportier and more engaging drive.

As for the chassis, ground clearance has been reduced by 15 millimetres. This allows the car to behave more efficiently on the road than on the rough terrain covered by rally stages. The OZ Racing Superturismo 17-inch wheels, fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres, are designed for those routes.

The bodywork is painted in Mamba Green, the same colour used by the rally version of ‘Cohete’ Suárez in the Championship. This colour is contrasted by matt black elements, which accentuate the car’s sporty character. This colour appears on the exterior mirrors, the grille, the roof and the rear spoiler.

This helps improve the aerodynamic behaviour and helps underline the sporting spirit. So do the Rally2 lettering and the name ‘Cohete’ Suárez on the tailgate. A commemorative laurel wreath celebrating the driver’s victories is displayed on the rear pillar.

Inside, there is black upholstery, and the steering wheel also carries the Rally2 lettering. The gear-shift paddles on the steering wheel give the driver the sense of control this car demands. Each of the 100 units to be sold comes with a metal plaque bearing the serial number and the driver’s signature.

A special handover

This model can be reserved from November 2024 and will be delivered during 2025. The first deliveries will come with a special bonus: ‘Cohete’ Suárez himself will hand over the cars and will also offer buyers a ride in his Skoda Fabia RS Rally2.

The price of the special edition is 30,900 euros and although only 100 units have been announced, the brand leaves open the possibility of a second batch of the variant if it proves successful enough.
