Skoda has used the Shanghai Show to unveil sketches of the Vision GT, a concept car that will be presented in June and that previews a sporty SUV

On the occasion of this latest edition of the Shanghai Show, many brands have seized the opportunity not only to unveil their proposals for the Chinese market, but also for the entire world. In this context we find Skoda, a brand that has just released a series of sketches of a new prototype that takes the form of a very eye-catching sporty SUV. We have witnessed on other occasions the faithfulness of the Czech brand’s production models to their respective prototypes, so we can expect the final version of the Vision GT -the name the concept receives not to differ much from the features we can see right now.

For the time being, we know little about this new reinterpretation of the SUV segment by Skoda, but we can glimpse a series of lines that fit perfectly with the latest models in its range. With this in mind, we can expect the production version of the Vision GT not to take too long to arrive, thus fitting into the current design language of the Czech brand.

As we have mentioned, Skoda has only presented sketches of this new prototype, which will make its debut in June on the occasion of the Shenzhen Show. Considering that the brand wants to take advantage of its presence in Asia to showcase its future additions, we can conclude that the Vision GT will ultimately become a product aimed solely and exclusively at the Chinese market.

It was through the social media accounts of Jens Katemann, current Communications Director of Skoda, and of the company itself that we were able to see the sketches of this SUV. At first glance, we find a very angular and sharp front end, two characteristics that perfectly underline this new, more aggressive and sporty character, along with the front grille, which has acquired considerable dimensions that further emphasise its imposing appearance.

The side also stands out for offering the robustness so typical of SUVs, but this is softened by a finer and more elegant design. Last but not least, we find the rear, an area where two taillights very similar to those featured on both the Kamiq and the Scala also make an appearance on this Vision GT, and which are framed by a slim spoiler and a rather grotesque diffuser.

It is still unknown whether electricity will be the main power source of this concept car and, consequently, of the future production vehicle, but we can expect at least a hybrid variant to be offered. This is how Skoda intends to keep increasing its offensive in China, one of its main markets and which is ready to welcome a new and revitalising vehicle from the Czech brand.
