The small urban electric car Dacia Spring, recently renewed, now on sale in Spain

The Dacia Spring has been updated aesthetically and includes technological and safety improvements while keeping its label as the cheapest electric car

Perhaps it is neither the most beautiful, nor the most powerful, nor the best equipped… but no one can take away from the Dacia Spring the label of not only being the cheapest electric vehicle on the market but also the cheapest car you can find on the market. Aimed at the urban environment, where this electric car moves like a fish in water, besides being a totally logical purchase, its latest update is already on sale.

Let’s recall, in general terms, that the new Dacia Spring receives the brand’s new image, which is faithfully reflected at the front with a redesigned bumper and a more stylised upper central surface that links to the new headlights with a “Y”-shaped light signature. On the side there are no major changes, while at the rear there are: also a new bumper and light cluster, linked to a central area in black and the brand’s lettering.

Inside, the design changes are noticeable at first sight, with a completely redesigned dashboard that raises its features in the top trim, which incorporates as standard a new screen for the infotainment system that will be optional in the lower trim. Speaking precisely of trims for the new Dacia Spring, the entry-level trim of the range is called Expression and includes the following elements:

  • 14- or 15-inch steel wheels depending on the chosen engine
  • Manual air conditioning
  • 7-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Media Control + USB C
  • DAB radio
  • Speed limiter and control
  • Cruise control
  • Assisted emergency braking system
  • Traffic sign recognition with overspeed alert
  • Emergency stop signal

  • Gear selector with regeneration position
  • Manual exterior mirrors
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Electric front windows

The second and last trim, called Extreme, adds to all of the above with elements such as the following:

  • 15-inch steel wheels
  • Extreme upholstery
  • Decorative interior details in copper colour

Mechanically, the new Dacia Spring will continue to be available with an electric motor in two power levels: 45 CV and 65 CV, with the novelty that the 65 CV engine will now also be available for the Expression trim, and not only for the Extreme trim as was previously the case. Regardless of the trim chosen, the Spring fits a 26.8 kWh battery that allows it to travel more than 220 kilometres in both trims, which can be charged in the best case from 20% to 80% in 45 minutes.

The new Dacia Spring is already on sale in Spain with prices starting from 19,100 euros in the Expression trim with the 45 CV engine, while this same trim with the 65 CV engine starts from 20,100 euros. If we opt for the Extreme trim, it will only be available with the 65 CV engine and will start from 21,100 euros. All these prices include taxes, and the Plan Moves III aid would need to be deducted.
