The Ssangyong Tivoli gets a refresh with a more modern look and new diesel and petrol engines

Ssangyong has just announced the update of the Tivoli, a vehicle that has just undergone a restyling bringing aesthetic and mechanical improvements.

Renovate or die, a saying that Ssangyong has been determined to apply to the letter and which we can see reflected in the Tivoli. The South Korean brand has decided to give its smallest SUV a facelift so it can keep competing in the market with determination. Thanks to a fresher, more up-to-date design, a more technological cabin and a range of engines, the Tivoli remains a very strong option for those considering buying an urban SUV with a value for money that is hard to beat.

It is true that this restyling does not renew the model itself, but it allows the Tivoli to feature a series of innovative details. With this premise, the brand has managed to modernise one of its most successful members so it can keep fighting in the fierce war of B-SUVs and offer technology that is far more current and on a par with its rivals.

It was in 2015 that Ssangyong launched the Tivoli and, after four years on the market, a facelift was necessary. In terms of styling, we find new LED headlights that bring a great deal of freshness to the whole, and bumpers that are more muscular and eye-catching, aiming to add a certain sporty touch in order to match the more modern, up-to-date cabin.

One of the main new features of the revamped Ssangyong Tivoli is found in its cabin, the new Digital Cockpit. The South Korean brand has chosen to provide all kinds of information through a 10.25-inch screen -available from the Premium trim onwards-, which is complemented by a centre console with a new design and better materials, and an 8-inch infotainment system screen -available from the Urban trim onwards- compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

But it is in the mechanical department where the real changes are found, since the Tivoli drops the naturally aspirated engine with this restyling. In its place, a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine takes over as the petrol option with 163 CV and 280 Nm of torque. If we opt for the diesel version, the South Korean brand offers a 1.6-litre e-XDI engine capable of producing 136 CV and 300 Nm of torque.

Ssangyong has announced a starting price -including the launch campaign and financing- of 13,550 euros for the Line trim with the petrol engine. That figure rises to 15,800 euros with the Urban trim and to 17,200 euros with the Premium trim, both paired with the same engine and a manual gearbox. Finally, the top-of-the-range trim called Limited, together with the 136 CV diesel engine and the automatic gearbox, has a starting price of 23,300 euros.
