The Toyota GT-86 makes its competition debut, with a crash

These days the Toyota GT-86 is quite the sensation in Japan, just like its sibling, the Subaru BRZ, about which we reported only a few hours ago how the brand cannot keep up with the avalanche of orders it has received. However, the first days of the GT-86 are no calmer than those of the BRZ, since it has made its debut in popular Japanese drifting with a crash.

Just days after its launch, a pair of professional drifting teams already have two GT-86 units on the track. One of them, powered by the V8 engine of the Lexus IS-F, the other with the GT-86’s original engine coupled to two turbos. The debut of one of them was not so happy, since just a few metres after starting its competitive life it crashed into the barriers, damaging part of the rear of the brand-new coupé, an incident you can see in the video after the jump.
