The Toyota RAV4 2013 ready for Los Angeles

After Toyota showed the first teaser of the fourth generation of its small SUV, the RAV4, high-resolution images of the model have arrived, where we can see every detail of both the exterior and the interior. It will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month.

For the first time in the RAV4 saga, a completely new body has been built. The previous three generations were simply facelifts of one another, but this time that is not the case. Although not yet confirmed, it appears to have grown significantly, improving cargo and passenger space.

To a large extent it reminds us of the Toyota Auris, mainly at the front. This SUV/off-roader now seems aimed at a public that prefers luxury and less indestructible plastic materials. The interior features leather upholstery and a screen in the centre of the dashboard.

Mechanically, rumours point to a single four-cylinder diesel engine in different power outputs, leaving aside, mainly in the American market, a V6. For now there is nothing official on this.

Will it have become more urban, leaving behind its old rugged look and its good off-road capabilities? We will find out tomorrow, and I hope I am wrong.
