The Toyota RAV4 electric is confirmed and will be built in Canada

After the back-and-forth and after Toyota put an additional 100 million in the hands of Elon Musk for the electric RAV4, the Japanese have just proudly announced that they have confirmed production of the electric RAV4 and that it will take place in Canada.
The production site will be in Woodstock, Ontario, and it will share the assembly line with the petrol RAV4s that are built at the white giant.
The commitment from Tesla Motors has been to supply all the components needed to assemble the electric drivetrain of the RAV4, although it will have to ship it to Canada, given that Toyota preferred to have direct control over the manufacturing of the RAV4, rather than having Tesla build it at the plant it bought from Toyota in California.
For now, Toyota has not given any data on production volume or the final price at which this electric SUV will go on sale, but it will be available to buy at Toyota dealerships in the US as early as the beginning of next year.
