The upcoming novelties of the Audi A4 2014

The next generation of the Audi A4 will feature a completely new design, renewed engines including a plug-in hybrid, and intensive use of aluminium. It will arrive in 2014.

Audi A4

Audi and its future plans. My curiosity is getting the better of me, and although I would love to know for certain what the executives of the brand with the four rings have in mind, for now we have to settle for the first rumours, which are quite credible, about the novelties that the next, tenth generation of the Audi A4 will bring.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, the small saloon from Audi will, after many years, feature a completely different design from the ones we have become used to, something that will then be carried across the rest of the brand’s model range. It will offer more dynamic lines, accompanied by a single-frame grille, flared wheel arches and sharp contours. The saloon could also have large rear lights and a more pronounced spoiler.

The use of aluminium from the current generation will be increased with the sole aim of making the car lighter and lighter, with the benefits that this brings. In this way performance will increase, consumption will drop and the vehicle’s dynamics will be greatly improved.

Another of the biggest novelties for the A4 range will be its engines. As the entry-level engine we will find a small 1.4 TSI with 122 CV, followed by another of the same displacement but capable of delivering 180 CV. This engine will have the option of deactivating two of its four cylinders, allowing savings of up to 0.6 litres/100 km.

Like its bigger siblings, the small saloon will offer its customers a hybrid variant, but on this occasion it will allow its batteries to be recharged through a plug. This powertrain would consist of a 211 CV petrol engine and an electric motor with 95 CV.
