The updated Toyota Camry Electric Hybrid is now available in Spain from 36,000 euros

Toyota was heading into the final stretch of 2020 presenting the update to the Camry Electric Hybrid, a model that first arrived in Europe in 2019 with the aim of making the brand even more global, if it was not already, by replacing the Avensis. It now faces a styling and technology refresh, a restyle that is already available and on sale in Spain.

Aesthetically the changes are not profound but are perfectly identifiable, with a front end that incorporates a new, more streamlined bumper that serves to renew the double grille, with slats for the lower area running from side to side that reinforce the sense of width of the Camry and incorporate side inserts which, depending on the trim level as well as the slats, may be finished in black or dark grey. The exterior changes conclude with two new wheel designs, which can be 17 or 18 inches depending on the design, and also the new Metallic Grey body colour.

Inside the Camry Electric Hybrid, the brand has taken the opportunity to install a renewed floating touchscreen which, depending on the trim chosen, can be 7 or 9 inches, positioned higher than the previous one to allow better visibility and ease of use, in addition to new buttons and dials and connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also presented are two new finishes for the interior trim: on one hand, black-treated wood with a composite texture and, on the other, linear titanium with a regular geometric pattern.

The new Toyota Camry Electric Hybrid comes equipped with the latest update to the Toyota Safety Sense package of active safety and driver assistance systems. Within this package is the Pre-Collision Safety System with pedestrian and cyclist detection, which now incorporates turn assist at intersections and crossings, active steering assist and front collision detection in the event of a risk of accident with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

In Spain the Camry Electric Hybrid will be offered in two trim levels, the first of which is the Advance and which includes items such as the following, among others:

• Heated front seats
• Rear view camera
• Two-zone climate control
• 7-inch TFT instrument cluster
• LED headlights
• Rain and light sensors
• Front and rear parking sensors
• 17-inch alloy wheels
• Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system with 7-inch touchscreen
• Toyota Safety Sense

The top trim level is the Luxury which, in addition to all of the above, adds the following items:

• Heated leather steering wheel
• LED rear lights
• Wireless smartphone charger
• Smart Entry keyless entry system
• 18-inch alloy wheels
• Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking
• Blind Spot Monitor
• Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system with 9-inch touchscreen

The new Toyota Camry Electric Hybrid, as I mentioned at the beginning, is already available at the brand’s Spanish dealerships with a starting price of 36,000 euros.
