Eos Volkswagen Convertibles Industry
The Volkswagen Eos will be retired at the end of the current generation, and the BlueSport will never even make it to production

Volkswagen has decided to discontinue the current generation of the Eos, once the time comes for the generational changeover, as Klaus Bischoff, the company’s head of design, previewed.
The reason has been explained as an overlap of models within the company itself, following the presentation of the Beetle Cabrio at the Los Angeles Motor Show. With this new convertible added, the company’s convertible lineup would rise to three (Beetle, Golf and Eos), so they have opted to eliminate the Eos, possibly the least sold of the three and the only one with a hard top.
Bischoff has also confirmed something we feared: the waiting period for the concept Bluesport to be turned into a production model has come to an end, but worse still, it will not be produced.
The reason is almost the same as the one given for not producing the new-generation Eos: a model overlap. Bischoff adds something even worse, noting that there would be too many convertibles on offer, without a tangible market to direct development and advertising investment towards, given the current sales slump in Europe.
