The Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet revealed

The Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet unveiled days before the Geneva motor show.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI R Cabriolet is not a novelty. If you look carefully through the gallery we showed you last year during the Wörthersee Tour, you will see that it appears in more than one photo. Let’s just say the brand has made it official today and will make it even more official in the coming days, at the Geneva motor show.

According to Volkswagen, it is the most powerful production convertible the brand has ever built to date. The engine is the same as the Golf’s, a 2-litre unit producing 211 CV, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a DSG dual-clutch automatic. It also comes standard with an electronic differential.

According to the brand, performance figures are as follows: 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h. More figures: the folding roof takes about 10 seconds to open or close. Consumption is around 7.6 l/100 km, if anyone is interested in that figure for this model.

According to the German brand, the convertible will be available in time for summer so we can cruise in the sun with the roof down. Prices for this Golf Cabrio are not yet known, and we won’t see them until Geneva as the official launch, but as you know, these versions tend to cost a bit more than the rest.
