Passat Volkswagen Sedans Range / versions Salón de Detroit
The Volkswagen Passat GT 2018 will also be present at the Detroit Show
This sporty version of the Volkswagen Passat will be unveiled in its final form at the Detroit Show, as it is aimed at the American market

The Detroit Show is just around the corner, and in recent days we have been seeing many previews of the brands’ proposals for this important event in the automotive industry. Volkswagen has several proposals for the event, but today we want to focus on the Volkswagen Passat GT 2018, a powerful, elegant model designed by the brand’s US Design Center, listening to buyers and sellers in the country to tailor its offer to what each of them really expects.
The model is based on the R-Line trim and comes as standard with LED headlights and DRLs, so this is already a significant upgrade over other versions of the model. The design of the front bumper also comes from the R-Line variant, although it has a different front grille. A red line frames it, with a style similar to that of the Golf GTI, aiming to visually unite both models.

Other features include the black roof, with exterior mirror caps in the same colour, to give the car a more exclusive look. Down below are 19-inch alloy wheels, which give it a very sporty and interesting touch. The rear bumper has a sportier design than the other Passat versions, and the rear lights and dual exhaust make substantial differences compared with the rest of the range.

Inside, we find a very sporty décor with black finishes and carbon fibre trim. The roof is also finished in black, and on the door sills you’ll find the GT badge in aluminium. The upholstery is made of black leather with Moonrock Gray inserts, which add a more elegant visual appeal.

Looking at the engine, we find a 3.6-litre V6 block delivering 280 CV and a maximum torque of 350 Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which aids its performance. Fuel consumption is rated at 8.5 litres per 100 km on the road, a high figure, but one that is in line with the type of engine it uses.
The model will be available from the second half of 2018.
