The Volvo EX30 could reach the market in June
The Swedish brand’s new small SUV will be presented on June 15.

The Swedish brand’s CEO, Jim Rowan, has confirmed that in June we will be able to see the new Volvo EX30. This model will become the smallest and most affordable electric vehicle from the manufacturer. In addition, it will be aimed at younger drivers. The SUV will enter production at the end of 2023.
Volvo hopes that the smallest member of its future all-electric range will reach a younger demographic, thanks to its more affordable price. The Volvo EX30 was seen last November alongside its sibling, the Volvo EX90. As specialist sources point out, Rowan has confirmed that the debut of this model is really important for the Swedish company.
Likewise, the CEO has insisted that the Volvo EX30 will be available at a “very good” price, will be a very safe SUV with a “decent” range and a good size. In the lineup, it will sit below the Volvo XC40. He also added that the EX30 will feature superior safety equipment, fantastic driving dynamics and high-quality finish.
Everything we know about the Volvo EX30
This new compact SUV from the Swedish brand will be produced in China and will be available to drivers with different battery packs. Everything points to it being built on Geely’s modular SEA platform, which also underpins the first electric SUV from Smart: the Smart #1.

The manufacturer has committed to launching electric vehicles by 2030, which means that by then, all combustion-engine models will be discontinued. Speaking about the future of electrification, Volvo’s CEO suggested that once the charging infrastructure is in place, they will be able to use batteries that are smaller, cost less and weigh less than today’s large-capacity battery packs.
Rowan also suggests that Volvo’s target driver base is “much bigger” than they would like, and that the new offering will help them attract “some younger people to the brand”. Therefore, the EX30 will be sold online and offered on a subscription-based ownership model with a three-month commitment, which could further lower the average age of drivers of the new Swedish SUV.
