The world premiere of the Volvo S90 in Detroit brings us this image gallery

The 2016 Detroit Motor Show has been the stage for the worldwide presentation of Volvo’s new flagship, the S90. We have talked quite a bit about this model, since it will serve as the basis for a new generation of cars from the Swedish brand. In fact, this model follows the trail already seen in the brand’s SUV, the Volvo XC90, which was presented and put on sale last year.
Two of the signature features found on that SUV, and which will apparently be repeated on other models, are the concave grille and the T-shaped lights, although other details will also be visible on this S90 that will form the design language from now on. The car won’t arrive for many months yet, but we can already see it up close. We had the chance to see some images before, and even a video tour of the interior, but now we have an extensive photo gallery that brings it closer to us more clearly.
The entry level of the model is marked by the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine in two versions. The D4 offers 190 CV and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, while the D5 has a power output of 235 CV and 485 Nm. There is also the top-of-the-range T8, with a powertrain producing 407 CV.

On the technology side, the new Volvo S90 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems that allow semi-autonomous driving under the name “Pilot Assist”. This system includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Distance Alert. The system that warns of an animal on the road is also included, something that seems quite logical in its country of origin and which, we assume, will be applied to pedestrians in the rest of the countries where reindeer don’t usually cross the road.
