If the facelift of the BMW i3 is confirmed for next year, 2017, the other great electric mobility model from the Bavarian brand, the BMW i8, could also receive an update, to bring the design and style of this very attractive car closer to the new decade that will arrive shortly. But it won’t be only the external physical appearance that will change in the model. It is expected to have new specifications that will raise the specifications of the current model.

The 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine will be adjusted, as will the electric unit that works together with it, so it will achieve a power increase of 15 CV. As a result, it will obtain a total output approaching 380 CV, with a much more intense thrust, although the increase is not very large.

But perhaps what will interest many drivers most is the battery change. The new batteries used in this new version of the BMW i8 could exceed the capacity of the current ones and offer a range 50% greater than the current model. We take this from the battery change the BMW i3 will have. In addition, there is a version with 10 kWh installed in the Formula 1 safety car that could replace the current one, which has 7.1 kWh.

Furthermore, this revised version would have an improvement in other mechanical elements, which will allow greater control over the car. Among those changes we may see a new suspension system. This could come from the suspension used on Formula E cars. The changes in the new version will be small, but they will allow us to have an even better car than the one we enjoy today.
