On certain occasions, police departments house some of the most iconic vehicles in the world, and today we bring you 5 examples.
The automotive world is made up of all kinds of sectors and segments, where our beloved cars are undisputed protagonists. The police department has always been a profession where the car has held vital importance but, on certain occasions, the garage of law enforcement officers has been altered by some rather curious and eye-catching models. Today, at Top10Motor, we will analyze some of these vehicles that have dispensed justice with their undeniable virtues and charismatic performance, which have made more than one offender feel the weight of the law.
Within this ranking we will find a wide variety of vehicles and, although some of them have not been in active service, they offer performance that would make any offender tremble. From city cars to supercars, they have been tasked with stopping those who try to evade the law and today we will analyze in depth the characteristics of these four-wheeled officers.
Mini John Cooper Works: small but tough
The BMW group has been reaping success since the beginning of the century with a brand that marked a before and after in motoring history, Mini. After the German firm took over Mini, it began to enhance and accentuate its characteristics with more sporty variants. Among them, the John Cooper Works, affectionately known as JCW, stands out, and which is responsible for offering a much sportier and more dynamic Mini.

These characteristics have made the current generation of the Mini the ideal candidate to join the German police, which has welcomed the small compact with open arms. Let us remember that the Mini JCW has under its hood a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 231 CV of power and 320 Nm of torque.
These figures allow the German compact to reach 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 246 km/h. With these characteristics, the most radical Mini to date has become a highly valued officer within the German police force, which will use it to put an end to misdeeds not only on the road, but in every corner of the country.
Lamborghini Huracán: the best police officer on wheels
Italy has always stood out as the cradle of some of the most iconic supercars of all time and, among them, are the models from Lamborghini. The bull badge has always stood out for creating specific variants for the police and, although they are generally not in active service, they are a clear example of the power that law enforcement officers have in Italy.

The Lamborghini Gallardo also donned the uniform of the national police and, after the launch of its successor, the brand considered it appropriate to apply the same formula. The Huracán of the Italian police is used for special services, such as when organs need to be transported from one hospital to another or when the speed and efficiency that the Lamborghini supercar is capable of providing is required.
The Huracán has been presented as the ideal candidate for this role thanks to its performance, which is delivered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine capable of developing 610 CV of power and 560 Nm of torque. Thanks to these figures, the supercar can reach 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 327 km/h, performance that is ideal for fulfilling its duties.
Volkswagen Golf R: the compact that will make offenders tremble
The world of hot hatches is at its most flourishing, but on certain occasions, some tuners take it upon themselves to exalt its traits. Oettinger decided to do the same with the Volkswagen Golf R on the occasion of the Essen Motor Show, an event where different tuners take the opportunity to show the world their most spectacular creations.

Thanks to Oettinger, the German police received a very special Golf R, since the tuner modified it so that its performance would increase considerably. In this way, the Volkswagen compact has become not only one of the most valued models in the fleet, but also one of the fastest.
Let us remember that the Golf R comes standard with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TFSI engine capable of developing 310 CV of power and 380 Nm of torque, figures that already place it among the most efficient vehicles in its segment. However, Oettinger could not contain his enthusiasm and managed to squeeze out every last drop to obtain a total of 400 CV and 500 Nm of torque, performance more than sufficient to make anyone who dares to evade the law tremble.
Bugatti Veyron: the police officer par excellence
It is true that the news that the Bugatti Veyron joined the impressive fleet of Dubai’s police vehicles is not new, but while a Chiron does not enlist as an officer this model deserves a worthy place in the ranking. During its commercial life the Veyron was one of the fastest vehicles in the world, managing to surpass the 400 km/h barrier in all its variants, but especially with the Super Sport designation.

Dubai, one of the largest economic powers in the world, decided to incorporate a Bugatti Veyron as a police car, thus becoming one of the fastest alongside a Lamborghini Aventador and a McLaren MP4-12C, among others. The distinctive uniform of the Dubai police does not detract from the sportiness of the French hypercar and it continues to perfectly fulfil its mission of catching the bad guys.
Beneath its skin lies a powerful supercharged 8.0-litre W16 engine capable of delivering 1,001 CV and 1,250 Nm of torque, figures that keep it as one of the most powerful vehicles in the world. In this way, the Bugatti Veyron can reach 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 407 km/h, performance that will leave no offender a chance.
Dodge Durango Pursuit: the baddest SUV for the American police
In the eyes of a European, the United States has the possibility of relying on a fleet of vehicles that is far more powerful and aggressive, something they achieve with the acclaimed segment of muscle cars. Over time, this philosophy has also been applied to other automotive segments, such as SUVs, where the Dodge Durango is one of its leading representatives.

This model from the American firm has joined the police force which, together with the Pursuit designation, will be one of those responsible for protecting the streets of the United States. As is customary, Dodge spared no effort in bringing this model to life, and that is why beneath its skin lies a muscular, pure heart that would win over any petrolhead.
If we lift the hood of the Dodge Durango, we will find a powerful 5.7-litre Hemi V8 engine capable of developing 360 CV of power. In this way, the American SUV becomes not only one of the most practical police vehicles but also one of the most effective at apprehending criminals and dispensing justice.
