These are the five cars preferred by Spaniards

Ibiza Connect 8
Just yesterday, as always at the beginning of the month, we carried out our usual review of how the sector has performed in terms of sales in Spain, also assessing how the first half of the year has gone in this respect.

Today we are going to check which passenger cars have been the customers’ favourites when buying a new car, and which brands have sold the most. Again, both in June and in the just-finished first half of the year.

Models

Golf mk7 2

In June we had a surprise. In fifth place is the Volkswagen Polo with 3,616 units sold, closely followed by another German segment B car, the Corsa, with 3,625 sales. Already on the podium, but within a stone’s throw of the two above, is the Renault Mégane with 3,634 units. With a greater margin, the Citroën C4 holds second place with 4,099 sales and, in first place as leader, is the Spanish segment B car, the Seat Ibiza. The result of the Seat León surprises us, a regular on the podium that this time has settled for sixth place. The Ibiza, which had been a little less strong for a while, has returned to the top.

As for the accumulated data for the first part of the year, the Top 5 starts with the legendary Volkswagen Golf and its 15,878 registered units, which narrowly beats its smaller sibling, the Polo, and which is close to snatching fourth place from the Opel Corsa, which closes the first half with 16,160 cars. On the third step of the podium is the Ibiza with 19,195 units, followed by the León with 19,806 and the outstanding leader, the Citroën C4, with 21,173 registrations.

Brands

Megane1

The five best-selling car brands in June were the Spanish one belonging to VAG, Seat, with 8,491 registered cars. In fourth place came Peugeot with 9,138 sales. The third company with the highest number of sales was Volkswagen with 9,821 units, followed by Opel, which took second place thanks to 10,438 sales. The highest step of the podium goes to Renault with its 11,760 cars delivered.

In the first half the members of the Top 5 are the same as in June, although the order varies in the first three positions. Thus, Seat is in fifth place and Peugeot in fourth, with 43,644 and 45,786 registrations respectively. In third place we have Renault with its 46,441 vehicles delivered, in second place, and with the French brand hot on its heels, we find Volkswagen with 49,472 registrations. At the very top of the Top 5 and with a comfortable lead remains Opel, with 53,770 deliveries so far this year.
