This Chevrolet Impala really did burn rubber

While we all know that the phrases “burned rubber” or “burned the tyres” are two expressions that would inevitably make it into any good compendium of sayings for every self-respecting car lover, I never thought it could be applied to the letter, as this Impala has done. There is no better visual effect than a trail of flames to get the blood pumping even in the coldest of hearts.
While the folks at Carscoop naively suggest it may have been using special tyres to leave a trail of burning asphalt behind it, I think it’s more likely that it was lucky enough to drive over an oil slick, and the oil itself caught fire. Or perhaps some mechanism controlled from inside that spills oil onto the wheels? Either way, this Impala is surely having its fifteen minutes of fame. You can tell me once you’ve watched the video, after the jump.
