This is the ARK Zero, the toughest rival to the popular Citroën AMI

In the United Kingdom, a small electric quadricycle is on sale that is considered the most affordable on the market, below the AMI.

The arrival of electric quadricycles has brought a major change to urban electric mobility. These vehicles have all the features of a small city car, yet they move around town with the characteristics of a motorcycle, thanks to their compact size. The electric motor, which is not powerful enough to venture onto main roads, is well suited to urban journeys.

The Citroën AMI is the best known of these, although other models have arrived that seek to carve out a niche in this increasingly popular segment, such as the Silence 04 and the Microlino. The new player in this game is the ARK Zero, which comes from the United Kingdom and whose manufacturer claims it is the cheapest electric vehicle on the British market.

Compact size

The ARK Zero measures 2,500 mm in length, 1,202 mm in width and 1,625 mm in height. This makes it slightly longer and taller than the AMI, but narrower. This makes sense because two people can fit inside, but in a 1+1 arrangement, as if they were on a motorbike or a moped. Oh, and according to the manufacturer, a dog can also fit without any problem.

Its body is made of aluminium, a material that is very practical for its ability to absorb energy in the event of an impact, helping to protect the occupants. At least, at the speeds the Zero travels. It is also lighter, which is important when talking about saving energy while moving, and resistant to bad weather.

By the way, its weight is only 489 kg, much of which belongs to the battery. This allows it to reach a range of 81 kilometres, more than enough for daily urban journeys. To charge it, it takes between six and seven hours when connected to a domestic socket. The electric motor delivers a power equivalent to 3 CV, which allows it to reach 45 km/h, the maximum speed these vehicles can reach.

As for equipment, the ARK Zero features a sliding roof, a rear camera to assist with parking manoeuvres, LED lights and a small screen for the multimedia system. All of this means that the price of 5,995 pounds sterling, which is equivalent to 7,000 euros. This makes it, indeed, a very affordable electric vehicle. However, for the moment it is only available on the British market, although it could reach Europe within some time.
