This is the hybrid battery that will increase the range of electric cars
ONE is developing a hybrid battery system that will allow electric range to be increased up to 1,200 kilometres.

The range of electric cars has caused anxiety both for electric car manufacturers and for users. That may be about to end, as a hybrid battery has been developed that will increase the range of electric cars to 1,200 kilometres. This milestone has been achieved by Our Next Energy, also known by the acronym ONE.
Reaching this range figure is a very big achievement; the challenge will come when they are able to reach industrial-scale production and make it a viable battery for passenger cars. It is true that BMW has already announced its involvement in this company’s project. So much so that the first ONE batteries could be fitted to the future electric cars of the Bavarian brand.

Everything you need to know about hybrid batteries
This new hybrid battery uses a battery system with cells that combine several technologies. This would make it much easier to provide the performance needed depending on demand. For example, if a car brand wants its car to have a compact, affordable and reliable battery that has to be charged daily, or if, on the other hand, a higher energy density is needed to travel more than 1,000 kilometres without needing to recharge.
Our Next Energy is not the first company to develop this type of battery, CATL has advanced considerably in its research and would use lithium-ion cells, in collaboration with sodium-ion cells, with the aim of achieving electric cars that are reliable “even in the worst conditions”.
The solution proposed by ONE involves offering a heavy-duty battery called range extender. This is a battery with a different storage technology and a higher energy density. The first battery is called Aries and could cover day-to-day needs, offering a range of 250 km with economical technology like that of other current batteries. ONE’s second battery is called Gemini and would give the car the energy needed to travel more than 1,200 kilometres without recharging.

These new batteries from One Next Energy could be applied to all types of vehicles. The Aries-Gemini battery system is designed for all kinds of transport. If a lorry can travel 1,200 km without recharging, it could make a difference and allow goods to be transported without having to stop to recharge.
