Car enthusiasts value certain qualities in a vehicle that is starting to be considered old, and one of them is, without a doubt, low mileage. Many people are sceptical of cars with a long life full of thousands and thousands of kilometres covered, which is why a car with little use gains more value. This is the case of our protagonist today, a 1993 Lexus LS 400 that, in its 26 years of life, has covered 34,000 miles, the equivalent of just over 54,000 kilometres.

A few weeks ago, we told you about our experience driving what was the firstborn of the Japanese firm, which arrived in the United States, one of its main markets, in 1989. Thirty years later, the Lexus LS 400 remains a benchmark for luxury and exclusivity, two qualities that can be appreciated in much greater detail in this particular unit.

Aesthetically, we find a immaculate car, on which time seems to have had no effect. The paintwork is in excellent condition, as is the cabin, where the leather is not deteriorated and the wood retains its elegant and imposing structure, making it an even more exclusive component given its scarcity in contemporary vehicles.

As we have mentioned, since its creation, this Lexus LS 400 has covered just 54,000 kilometres, a figure that is not especially low overall, but is modest for a car of 26 years. At the same time, it has had only one owner responsible for registering that figure on the odometer, which provides greater confidence about the condition of this Japanese luxury saloon.

At the heart of this masterpiece of Japanese engineering lies a powerful 4.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine capable of producing 253 CV and 353 Nm of torque, figures that have come together to offer unprecedented comfort. At the same time, we must add a striking technological showcase, which has become very common in today’s vehicles over the last few years, and a quality of finish that aimed to target the flagship models of Mercedes-Benz and BMW of the era.

This particular unit is located in New Jersey and has been put up for sale through bringatrailer, an online auction site. The current bid stands at $10,500, a figure that seems rather high for a vehicle over twenty years old, but which would allow us to acquire a unit in exceptional condition.
