Li Auto has already launched the Mega, an electric minivan, which has already been unveiled through the Instagram account of the brand’s CEO and could reach Europe.

China remains a country that strongly bets on electric mobility. Furthermore, it is a market where MPVs and minivans are still being produced, a type of vehicle that in Europe has almost completely disappeared in favour of SUVs. The newcomer brand Li Auto has just presented its first model, which is, precisely, an electric minivan that was unveiled by the company’s CEO, Li Xiang, on his Instagram account.

Previously, a series of illustrations made by an independent designer, sugardesign_1, had been seen, previewing the design of the vehicle. One of those images is the one that heads this article, and you can see the differences between that image and the one Li Xiang published of the final model.

The Li Auto Mega, which is what this new Chinese electric minivan is called, is based on the Whale architecture, which offers an 800-volt structure. This will allow it to have a charging capacity of up to 500 kW, enabling it to gain a range of 400 kilometres in just nine and a half minutes. This, provided a charger offering this power is used.

The battery is from CATL, specifically a Qilin like the one increasingly equipped in models around the world. Together with the 800-volt architecture, it promises good performance when tackling a long journey. In addition, this electric minivan is expected to offer many elements enabling autonomous driving. To this end, a LiDAR has been installed on the roof, showing that it is well equipped to meet that challenge.

As for dimensions, it is a vehicle with a length of 5,300 mm, a width of 2,000 mm and a height of 1,800 mm. The spacious interior is ensured by a wheelbase of 3,200 mm.

Sales are expected to begin in December 2023, although the first deliveries will not take place until February. Afterwards, this model is expected to be the first in the Li Motors lineup to arrive in Europe. Interest in minivans is expected to recover in Europe after several years of decline, and this could be one of the models that can be purchased in our market.
